New website launched to help Australians buy property better

With the aim of helping property buyers make informed property purchases, Australia’s largest body of professional buyer’s agents is proud to unveil its new consumer website, www.rebaa.com.au and a fresh new logo.

The new REBAA website is aimed to educate and empower homebuyers about the benefits of having an independent advocate who can research, evaluate and negotiate buying property on their behalf. Buyer’s agents are qualified real estate professionals who work exclusively on behalf of property buyers, while the traditional agent works for the seller and is intent on achieving the highest possible price.

Buyer’s agents are becoming more popular across Australia, as buyers recognise the benefits having their own advocate can bring to the negotiation. They offer a number of different service options, ranging from complete searches through to auction bidding and single property reports.

Their aim is to ensure that the purchaser is as fully informed as possible and doesn’t overpay for the property.

“With our new REBAA website and national directory of accredited buyer’s agents, consumers are being made aware of the progress that is being made in this new profession and the high standards of our members,” says REBAA president Rich Harvey.

“Having an experienced advocate on side who is familiar with suburb values and the purchasing process also assists in maintaining objectivity when it comes to negotiating the best possible outcome.

“For most of us, buying a property is likely to be the biggest financial investment we will make in our lifetime so it’s important to get it right or risk making a costly mistake.”

Currently there are around 150 agencies around Australia acting exclusively as buyer’s agents, nearly half of those are in New South Wales, compared with just two 10 years ago.

REBAA accredited agencies across Australia are now displaying their accredited agency logos on their individual websites to help buyers clearly identify bonafide agents.

“The industry is definitely growing and REBAA has a responsibility to consumers that its members have an in-depth knowledge of the real estate market and adhere to guidelines and an ethical code of conduct to ensure they are safeguarded against unscrupulous operators,” says Harvey.

“REBAA is Australia’s largest independent alliance of buyer’s agents who act on behalf of buyers in property transactions.

“The Association’s accredited buyers agent logo is synonymous with professionalism and best practice and its members are committed to stringent ethical standards.

“In an increasingly complex marketplace, buyers are starting to see the value of having an independent expert on their side, one who knows exactly how much a property is worth, who can negotiate the best price and terms.”
