REBAA member launches innovative new franchise model

Multi award-winning REBAA member Miriam Sandkuhler*from Property Mavens has started welcoming franchisee start-ups, saving entrants the hassle of setting up a business, including all administration systems and building a brand themselves.

The franchise model is being embraced by the buyers agency industry, with Property Mavens leading the charge.

The Australian first franchise model is a ‘turnkey’ business offering, designed to help buyers’ agents starting out remove the significant time and financial impost of setting up a business from scratch.

“The trouble a lot of new entrants have is keeping in mind the time and setup costs and ongoing financial obligations they must meet, so they often just survive instead of thriving,” said Ms Sandkuhler.

Under the Property Mavens Future Wave model, agents have ongoing ‘on the job’ mentoring and training, access to a CRM, e-marketing and website profiles, an established reputation and branding, social media and business processes, and support including lead generation, marketing, and business development.

Experienced selling agent, Michael Kimbel, jumped at the opportunity and has opened Property Mavens in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne.

With a background in mortgage broking and many years spent as a licensed real estate agent, Michael has good insights into the lending environment and understands how sellers think, how sales agents operate and how to negotiate well.

“I really enjoyed the property side of things and working with clients, but I didn’t like the sales side of things – it didn’t feel comfortable with me so I was certainly looking for a change,” said Mr Kimbel who was named a finalist in the 2022 Buyer’s Agent Category of the Australian Small Business Champions Awards.

“Like any new role there are systems and processes you need to get used to, but the support I’ve had from Miriam has been fantastic.”
