REBAA president named REINSW Buyer's Agent of the Year

Congratulations to REBAA president Rich Harvey who was last night awarded Real Estate Institute of New South Wales’ Buyer’s Agent of the Year at a gala dinner at Sydney’s Sheraton Hotel.

The annual industry awards encourage, promote and recognise excellence in the real estate profession.

Harvey, who has won the award eight times in the last 11 years, began his career creating his own gardening business as a university student.

After completing a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in economics, he worked as a senior economist in the NSW Government and then he started buying his own property.

“I became a buyer’s agent because I saw a lot of people out there making poor decisions in buying properties,” said Harvey.

“They’d pay too much at auction, they’d take shortcuts with their research and they’d end up buying a dud property that just wasn’t going to perform for them.”

According to Harvey the average time it takes most people to buy property is 12 months.

“With a buyer’s agent you can expedite that process and it usually take about two to three months,” he said.

“Buyer’s agents have networks of agents and that really helps them fast-track the right property and when you step into that negotiation arena with a skilled agent who’s very good at getting the highest price, you need to know you’ve got a buyer’s agent in your corner.”
